Infection Control
Infection controls and universal precautions protect clients and staff alike. Everyone benefits from rigorous infection control — you, your dentist, and the dental team. The cornerstone in a good and safe dental practice is the element of trust. You should feel free to discuss this topic with Dr. Christine Moore and receive a straightforward answer.
Dr. Christine Moore and our entire team follow procedures recommended by ALL Canadian federal, provincial and municipal agencies, (Public Health Ontario, I-Pac, RCDSO, Peterborough Public Health) including recommendations made by American Federal Agencies: the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
These measures include and are not limited to:
- Disinfectant hand soap
- Face Masks, Gloves, and Gowns. Face Shields where appropriate.
- Chemical disinfection of countertops and surfaces between every patient
- Sterilization of all equipment before every use
- Engineer designed and approved Air Filtration and Air Circulation
- Disposable materials and equipment
- Disposable Barriers in our operatories, and cleansable Barriers such as plexiglass in our reception area.
We sterilize all reusable equipment, including dental hand pieces according to strict I-PAC guidelines and regulations. We use ultrasonic equipment in the cleansing process, and autoclaves, devices that kill bacteria and viruses by steam, heat and pressure. Please feel free to ask any questions that you may have.
